Minister Michael S. Kerzner Visits City's Emergency Facilities

City of Cornwall

On April 23, 2024, Solicitor General Michael S. Kerzner visited Cornwall to tour the future site of the city’s new Fire Headquarters. Joined by MPP Nolan Quinn, the Minister met with city officials and fire services' staff to learn more about the project and its role in supporting frontline emergency response in Cornwall.

The new Fire Headquarters, being built at the corner of Tollgate and Brookdale, is designed to meet the needs of a modern fire service. It will provide a safe, efficient, and professional workspace for crews, with practical features that support daily operations and long-term service to the community.

The visit was also a chance to reflect on what the new facility will mean for Cornwall and the future of fire services in the city.

Mayor Justin Towndale said, “The City of Cornwall was pleased to host the Ontario Solicitor General, Michael Kerzner. We appreciate Minister Kerzner taking the time to visit our police and fire facilities and to meet with our first responders. Together, we will continue our work to ensure that Cornwall remains a safe and vibrant community for all.

Fire Chief Matthew Stephenson added, “This facility has been thoughtfully designed to support faster emergency response, improve firefighter safety, and provide a healthy, efficient workspace. It’s built for today’s needs and tomorrow’s challenges.”

The City of Cornwall is proud to invest in a facility that not only supports its firefighters but also strengthens the city's overall emergency preparedness—helping to protect residents and build a safer future for the entire community.
