The family of Ted McCullough is saddened to announce his sudden passing on February 14, 2024, at Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica at the age of 73. Ted is survived by his wife and best friend of 39 years, Dyane. Loving father to David (Morgan), Jamey (Karla), and Sean (Rachelle). Grandpa to Carter, Harper, Jaxon, Sophia, Harrison, Lloyd, Ella, Claire, and Margot. Son of Claire McCullough (nee Husted), brother to Deborah (Craig) and Bob (Leigh). Always smiling Uncle Ted to his nieces and nephew.
Ted is predeceased by his fathers Ross Holmes and Elmer McCullough and his brother David.
Ted was dedicated to serving the community by volunteering in many groups and organizations, but most importantly the fire service both municipally and provincially. His fire service career began in Cambridge where he was the Chief Training Officer, then moving to The Town of Dundas as Fire Chief. In 1990, Ted’s career moved him and his family to North Bay, where he was Fire Chief for 18 years, he retired in 2008 and pursued some consulting for municipal fire services and was appointed as the Fire Chief in West Perth where he reorganized the department for the future.
Ted loved his family, although he often removed his hearing aid when they all visited. He enjoyed woodworking, cycling, his annual fishing trip with ‘the boys’ to Lac Promenade, the ‘Tage gang and of course his red wine.
A special thank you to Fraser, Elaine, Luc and Diane who were with Ted & Dyane in Costa Rica. Also, to the Hermosa Palms community especially Yoyo, Ty and Valentina for all their assistance and love. You are our angels.
Ted, Dad and Grandpa will always be in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held in late spring for family and friends.
Donations in memory of Ted may be sent to Chat4Chad or a charity of your choice and will be gratefully acknowledge by our family.
