Queen's Park Advocacy Day

qp

What is an Advocacy Day?

An Advocacy Day is an effective and an efficient tool in developing and furthering the relationship between the fire service industry and Members of Provincial Parliament (MPP) from all political parties. It is an opportunity for chief fire officers from across Ontario to come together as one voice to share our vision of fire and life safety.

What will you be required to do?

You will be required to attend at least one of the Queen's Park Advocacy Virtual Training sessions prior to the event. The dates and times for the virtual training sessions are May 5 1:00pm to 2:00pm EST and May 5 7:00pm to 8:00pm EST. On the day of Queen's Park Advocacy Day you are required to be at Queen's Park for 8:00am EST and will be assigned meetings to attend throughout the day. We ask that all attendees also stay for the reception that takes place at the end of the day.

FireCon Conference and Trade Show

September 9 - 13!

About FireCon

For over 30 years, Emergency North Training (ENT), has developed critical regional training courses and programs for firefighters and emergency first responders for municipalities, unincorporated territories, and First Nations in northwestern Ontario. The main training forum held each September is known as FireCon.

Municipal budgets in the north continue to be under significant pressure to reduce costs and spending. With that said, the courses offered at FireCon, on a per-student basis, is the best opportunity for your first responders to receive affordable training at a recognized standard.  As such, ENT prides itself in delivering affordable, accessible, and attainable training programs and courses. Courses offered at FireCon adhere to the standards of Ontario's Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM), Emergency Management (EM), and the Ministry of Labour.

By collaborating and partnering with the OFM, the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs, and sponsors, we can ensure that our objective of providing regional emergency training, in particular, the staging of FireCon event, remains possible.

But FireCon is more than just training, FireCon hosts a professional trade show where attendees receive information from company experts on new equipment, technologies, and services. On Saturday evening, we host our annual banquet where attendees enjoy a delicious meal and entertainment and have the opportunity to network with their friends in the fire service.

For questions about FireCon, please contact Katelyn Widdop, Events and Marketing Manager at katelyn.widdop@oafc.on.ca or 905-426-9865 ext.1224.
