Niagara West Fire & Emergency Services expands Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation

Town of Lincoln

Niagara West Fire & Emergency Services is proud to announce an upgrade in its Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation. Effective October 9, 2024, the department has achieved the Public Fire Protection Classification (PFPC) level, recognized by the Fire Underwriters Survey (FUS). This marks a significant enhancement from the Dwelling Protection Grade (DPG), reflecting advanced fire protection capabilities for both residential and commercial properties in rural areas.

The Superior Tanker Shuttle Service is part of the Fire Underwriters Survey used to determine fire insurance rates. The upgraded accreditation ensures that many rural properties in Lincoln can access fire protection benefits typically associated with hydrant-serviced areas. The accreditation now applies to both residential properties within eight (8) kilometers of a fire station and commercial properties within five (5) kilometers.

What Does This Accreditation Mean for You?

The PFPC accreditation recognizes the ability of Niagara West Fire & Emergency Services to meet stringent water delivery standards during emergencies. For residents and businesses, this achievement may result in reduced fire insurance premiums, depending on insurer policies.

Key eligibility factors include proximity to a fire station and approved water supply points. To determine if you qualify, visit Lincoln.ca/TankerAccreditation for detailed eligibility criteria and steps to share this information with your insurer.
