Munster farmhouse uninhabitable after $500,000 fire

A fire investigator is examining the cause of a blaze at a Munster farmhouse Tuesday night but it was clear that two residents won’t be able to return home, the fire department reports.

Damage is pegged at $500,000.

The residents returned their home at 7783 Bleeks Rd, west of Munster Road at 7:20 p.m. and called 911 when they spotted smoke.

Their dog was thankfully safe in another building as the fire extended from the basement of the farmhouse to the first and second floors.

Firefighters declared a working fire at 7:31 p.m., had it under control at 8:21 p.m. and were continuing to overhaul the wreckage for hot spots into the evening while police, paramedics, Enbridge Gas and Ottawa Hydro were also at the scene.
