A Burlington firefighter received injuries while emergency crews fought to bring a blaze under control in Burlington yesterday (Aug. 18).

According to reports, 10 trucks and 30 firefighters arrived at the scene on Mystic Court near Headon Road and Folkway Drive around 3:30 p.m. to find smoke coming from the basement of the two-storey home.

Residents of the home made it out safely.

The fire quickly spread to upper levels and despite a heavy downpour of rain, it took crews four hours to contain.

Initial investigations report the fire was due to a mechanical problem.

Damage in excess of $500,000 has been reported.
