A broken pole in North Grenville, Ont. has caused a fire and outage in the area, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Police told CTV News Ottawa a failed pole snapped right at the intersection at South Gower Drive and Dillabaugh Road Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
The fire was on the pole, according to police.
No injuries were reported, police say.
Police say as crews from Hydro One and the North Grenville Fire Service work on repairing the broken pole, the intersection at South Gower Drive and Dillabaugh Road will be closed.
While the traffic is being rerouted, police are securing the area, the OPP said in a post on X.
Residents in the area are expected to have power outage for most of the day, police say.
Hydro One told CTV News Ottawa Saturday "due to equipment failure, customers in the Winchester area, including North Grenville, are currently experiencing a power outage. Many customers' power have already been restored and approximately 940 customers remain without power."
The power service says the power is expected to be restore by 5 p.m. Saturday evening.
"We thank our customers for their patience as our crews investigate and work to restore power as quickly as possible," reads the statement.
