Central York Fire Services is a full-time consolidated fire service providing excellent public education, fire prevention, and emergency fire services to the residents of Aurora and Newmarket. These two vibrant communities are protected by a fire service that is able to respond effectively and competently to a wide range of emergencies and hazards, through our Mission: To serve with professionalism, honour and integrity.
CYFS serves a combined population of approximately 150,000 and covers an area of 90 square kilometres. Operating out of 5 fire stations, the department responds to over 5000 emergency calls each year. Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief provides direction to Fire Service resources in support of the Towns of Aurora and Newmarket. In collaboration with the Senior Management Team, efforts may be directed toward various aspects of the Fire Service including but not limited to: planning, organizing, coordinating and directing of fire suppression, public education, staff training, fire prevention, fire related emergency services operations and programs for Central York Fire Services.
The successful candidate will possess progressive experience at a senior supervisory level. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation, practices and principles of fire operations, investigation, protection and prevention is essential. Proven experience involving administrative functions, budget preparation, report writing, program development, change management and teambuilding techniques is required. A strategic thinker with an understanding of the broader financial requirements associated with the successful running of a full Fire Service. Possesses the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Salary: $164,378 - $182,635
