Clearview Township will be going to the pros to find its next fire chief.
At its first business meeting, councillors voted in favour of hiring a recruitment consultant to assist in finding a replacement for Colin Shewell.
Shewell left in October to take a position with the City of London Fire Department.
The role is currently being overseen by the township’s deputy fire chief, Roree Payment.
Human resources manager Tammy Gill said the current climate for municipal senior managers “is competitive right now.”
The recruitment specialist would assist in the initial stages of the hiring process and approach potential candidates for the job, Gill told council.
Once candidates are identified and encouraged to apply, the process would go to a recruitment panel of the mayor, chief administrative officer, HR manager and two local fire chiefs.
