Ottawa Fire Services says smoke from a burning pipe wrap in a basement on Parliament Hill prompted a brief visit from firefighters.
Crews were called to the Justice Building on Wellington Street in downtown Ottawa at around 7:30 a.m.
The fire led to smoke spreading in the building just west of the House of Commons.
“The pipe wrap was quickly extinguished and firefighters are ventilating the smoke from the structure,” Ottawa Fire Services said on social media.
Crews cleared the area a short time later.
Spokesperson Nick DeFazio says it’s still not known what caused the fire.
Ottawa paramedic spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps says one man was assessed at the scene for minor smoke inhalation but did not require a trip to the hospital.
