Kerr, Robert James "Rob"

Everything changed Friday March 28, 2014, the day Rob began his courageous battle with a crushing foe, himself. Not being able to speak or move, the next 3 years "locked in", he bravely confronted his illness. Surrounded by the love and support of his family and friends, Rob boldly faced his condition with the same resolve, humour and determination he showed in life. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rob on Wednesday February 22, 2017 at Brampton Civic Hospital, at the age of 56.

Rob was supported by his beloved wife of 32 years, Bonnie (n. Cormier). Much loved father of Mitchell and his fiancée Erin Adlakha, and Nicole and her partner Nick Bowes-Henry. He will be remembered by his siblings Dave, Jeff, Julie Cooper and her husband Tim, and John and his wife Irene, and their families. He will also be terribly missed by his mother-in-law Donna Cormier, brother-in-law Mark Cormier and his wife Louise, sister-in-law Brenda McCormack and her husband Cameron, his niece Michelle McLaughlin and her husband Cory, and his nephews Myles Cormier, and Luc and Gabriel McCormack. Rob is predeceased by his parents Jim & Dorothy, and his father-in-law Joseph Cormier. Rob was a proud member of Brampton Fire and Emergency Services since September of 1988, rising through the ranks and obtaining the position of Platoon Chief.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Rob's Life will take place on Monday March 6th at North Bramalea United Church (363 Howden Blvd, at Vodden Street E.) at 11:00 am.

Visitation will take place one day earlier on Sunday March 5th at Andrews Community Funeral Centre (8190 Dixie Rd) from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. Stories of Rob or condolences may be expressed to the family online in Rob's Guestbook at www.andrewscommunityfuneralcentre.com

Those who knew Rob, knew he was as much at home in a canoe as in fire truck. He was an avid canoeist, naturalist and lover of nature. Algonquin Park was one of his favorite places and he was a supporter of wilderness conservation. If you would like to make a donation on Rob's behalf, we would ask that a contribution be made to Friends of Algonquin (http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/foap/donate), or to The Heart and Stroke Foundation (http://www.heartandstroke.ca).
