Earlier this month, the St. Marys Fire Department participated in live fire training exercises at the Ingersoll Fire Training Center.
During the exercises, participants engaged in controlled fire scenarios. These scenarios allow firefighters to experience the challenges of firefighting while focusing on safety and maintaining industry standards.
Training instructors, the Fire Chief, and the department Safety Officer were present throughout the exercise to monitor and control the training environment, ensuring all necessary safety precautions were in place.
"The live fire training exercise is essential to ensuring the highest level of safety and proficiency among our firefighters," says Fire Captain Greg St. Clair. "By participating in real-life scenarios, our firefighters can sharpen their skills, enhance their decision-making abilities, and further develop their teamwork and communication."
"As firefighters, the training never really stops, from the day we are hired to the day we retire," adds Fire Chief Richard "Andy" Anderson.
"We thank the Ingersoll Fire Department for allowing us to use their facility for this important exercise," continues Anderson. "We want to express our appreciation to instructor Justin Whalen for passing along his knowledge and experience for the betterment of our firefighters."
