The Inter Township Fire Department (ITFD) honoured its firefighters during the 2024 Years of Service Awards on Saturday, September 14. This year’s ceremony celebrated a combined 90 years of service to the Georgian Bluffs and Meaford communities.
Each year, the department highlights the remarkable efforts of its firefighters, who consistently demonstrate exceptional dedication to the safety and well-being of the communities they serve.
The 2024 Years of Service Award recipients include:
- 35 Years of Service: Glen McKee
- 5 Years of Service: Travis Belrose, Jenna Bergeron, Nate Downing, Richard Stackhouse, and Jeff Thomson
Fire Chief Jeff Gautreau was also recognized for his total 30 years of service as a firefighter, 12 of which have been spent with the ITFD, receiving the First Bar of the Governor General’s Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal – a testament to his leadership and contributions over three decades.
Deputy Mayor Grant Pringle, who represented Georgian Bluffs at the event, shared his gratitude: " I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each of you. We deeply appreciate the risks you take and the sacrifices you make to protect life and property. I also want to thank your families, who stand by your side, even when you’re called away at a moment’s notice. Your support makes this vital service possible".
