The woman was found inside the home without a pulse but firefighters revived her before she went to hospital
A senior has been rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition after a fire in the city's east end, according to the city's paramedic and fire departments.
Hamilton fire chief Dave Cunliffe said, in a media release, crews responded to reports of a fire at 6:21 a.m., in a two-storey home on Strathearne Avenue.
Firefighters entered the house and found a person without a pulse, Cunliffe said.
Hamilton paramedic Supt. Dave Thompson said the woman is believed to be in her 80s.
Cunliffe said firefighters got the woman out of the house and revived her.
Thompson said she was taken to a local burn trauma centre.
Cunliffe said no one else was found in the home.
He said the fire was in the living room and was "quickly brought under control."
The fire department believes the fire caused roughly $400,000 worth of damage, but it's unclear what started the fire.
Cunliffe said the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office has been notified.
