Passing of Deputy Chief Laverne "Fish" Maracle, Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Fire Department

PASSING OF 40 YEAR VERTERAN LAVERNE “FISH” MARACLE, MOHAWKS OF THE BAY OF QUINTE FIRE DEPARTMENT

Suddenly on Friday October 10th, 2014,  Laverne “Fish” Maracle, member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte (MBQ) Fire Department, as well as the father of Fire Chief Scott Maracle.  Laverne was a founding member of the MBQ Fire Dept. in 1974 and served as a Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain and Deputy and has stayed active throughout the years, supporting not only his own dept., but actively involved with the Training Tower up to present day.

At the last Hastings and Prince Edward Mutual Aid Association that was held just over a week ago a motion was passed (with standing ovation) inducting Laverne as an Honourary Life Time member of the Association. He will be missed by many. His smile and sense of humor put all at ease. He truly enjoyed meeting the new Firefighters who would come through the courses at the tower. He was also very proud that his grandson Ian is a third generation MBQ Firefighter.

Visitation is at the McGlade Funeral Home, Deseronto on Tuesday October 14th from 1900 to 2100 hours and Wednesday October 15th from 1300 to 1500 hours; 1800 hours to 2100 hours.

The Funeral will be on Thursday October 16th at All Saints Church, on Ridge Road just off York Rd. near the school, commencing at 1100 hours.

The Church is not very large so Fire Department members are requested to assemble in Mohawk of the Bay of Quinte Fire Department in full Dress Uniforms as an Honour Guard will be set up outside the entry to the church. Please be there by 1030 hours to set formation prior to family arrival.

The Honour Guard and Colour Party will be marching the family a short distance to the graveside.

For those who wish memorial donation can be made to HPEMFAA Training tower in memory of Fish.  On-line condolences may be made at www.mcgladefuneralhome.com
