LODD Deputy Chief Tony Lippers - Service Information

 

The Town of Caledon announced the death of Deputy Chief Tony Lippers, a member of Caledon Fire and Emergency Services in a news release earlier today.

Tony passed away yesterday, May 22, 2013 with family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Tony served a number of community fire services before joining Caledon Fire and Emergency Services in 2006 as Deputy Chief. Prior to joining the Town, he served as Assistant Fire Chief in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Chief Fire Prevention Officer for the Orillia Fire Department (City of Orillia), and Senior Fire Inspector for the Ajax Fire Department (City of Ajax). Tony served early in his career as a volunteer firefighter in the communities of Mariposa and Ajax. He was also an accomplished design engineer.

Tony was a dedicated Deputy Fire Chief with Caledon Fire and Emergency Services, and a contributor to a number of fire service organizations across Ontario, he will be sadly missed by many.

Peacefully at Southlake Health Care Centre, Newmarket, on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in his 55th year; beloved husband of Barbara; loving father of Elizabeth Baron (Jon) and Chris (Leanne); cherished grandfather of Paige and Payton; dear brother of Captain Ben (Captain Isobel); beloved brother in law of Helen Bogl, Richard Bogl (Lou Anne); loving uncle of Rachael, Alicia, Julia, Crystal and Greg; dear son-in- law of Katharina Bogl. Tony will be missed by many other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends at Dods & McNair Funeral Home & Chapel, 21 First St, Orangeville (519 941 1392) on Monday, May 27, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

A tree will be planted in memory of Tony in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. A dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 8th, 2013 at 2:30 p.m.

Plan to arrive at Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School at 8:30 a.m. The procession leaves from Robert F. Hall and will pass in front of Town Hall, and on to the Caledon Community Complex.

Mustering OF Uniformed Personnel – 8:30 a.m. – Please plan to arrive at 8:30 a.m. at the Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School. Parking instructions follow. IMPORTANT: Please email dave.pelayo@caledon.ca and darryl.thompson@caledon.ca to register your intent to take part in the processional march, with:

  • organization information;
  • point of contact (name, email, mobile number); and,
  • estimated number of personnel expected.

You will be greeted at the school and directed into formation.



Processional March - 10:00 a.m. – March to step off from Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School, to proceed along Old Church Road in a westerly direction, and to arrive at Caledon Community Complex.

Please join us for a period of fellowship and refreshment immediately following the memorial service at the Banquet Hall at the Caledon Community Complex.



DETAILED PARKING ARRANGEMENTS

Parking for Fire, Police, Paramedic and other uniformed personnel participants:

Option 1: Parking is available at the soccer fields adjacent to the OPP building. Traffic control will assist you in parking. It is a short walk to the Mustering at Robert F. Hall. As well, a shuttle is available and will run before and after the procession, from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Option 2: Parking is available at Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School, where Mustering will take place. We encourage you to use Option 1, as to cause the least interruption possible to the school.

Option 1: Caledon Community Complex (CCC). If you require Accessible parking or if you are an attending dignitary, there will be reserved parking at the CCC. Please indicate to traffic control and they will direct you.
