The origin and cause of the fire has yet to be determined, said Scugog fire department chief Mark Berney

The blaze was fully involved when firefighters arrived, however there were no occupants at home at the time, said Berney.

A Nestleton home was completely destroyed by fire early Monday morning, said Scugog’s fire chief.

Firefighters from both Port Perry and Caesarea fire halls responded to an Cartwright East Quarter-Line address at 3:47 a.m. on Feb. 12, after receiving reports of a house fire.

The blaze was fully involved when firefighters arrived, however there were no occupants at home at the time, said Mark Berney, the Scugog fire department chief.

The origin and cause of the fire has yet to be determined, said Berney.

He estimates damage to the two-storey, country-style home to be in the $700,000 range.

“It’s a total loss,” he said. “It was a nasty fire and a quick burner.”

Firefighters from Uxbridge were placed on standby, while Scugog firefighters battled the Nestleton blaze, added Berney.
