Calvin Township has declared a fire truck surplus, and is taking bids

Calvin Township has recently declared a few vehicles surplus to its needs, but what might be the highlight of the batch, is a fire truck – a single axle pumper, to be exact.
The township is taking bids, so you can put one in and see if you get a deal. Imagine the possibilities when you sit behind the wheel of your own pumper, dream of the laughter erupting as you pull up to Uncle Ed’s annual family barbeque.
“It was put to rest due to its age,” noted Donna Maitland, Calvin’s Chief Administrative Officer. Does it run? “It was fully operational,” she added.
Was? “It was started up and moved location just last week,” she clarified. “It is being sold as is.”
Previous to the move Maitland mentioned, the machine was parked for two years. However, before this purgatorial park, the vehicle was inspected annually and had the pump tested as well on the regular.
The 1985 GMC Single Axle Pumper is equipped with a stock Detroit Silver 92-6V-393 engine, complete with an Allison Automatic HT-740 transmission. It weighs 35,000 pounds, so you my have to upgrade your jack collection as well.
The water tank holds 500 gallons, plenty to fill a few hot tubs, with enough left to easily extinguish Uncle Ed’s grill.
