Orillia Matters

There were no injuries reported following a residential fire on Fox Run this morning, but emergency crews were able to rescue two pets from the smoke-filled home.

A dog and a cat were saved from the blaze, which started around 7 a.m. on Feb 8.

All occupants of the home have been accounted for, Deputy Fire Chief Derek Wilson said.

“There was fire in the basement and it extended throughout the house," he said. "There are no active flames, but crews are still on site checking for hot spots."

An investigation team will be arriving Thursday morning to determine the cause of the fire along with a damage assessment, which will take several hours, Wilson said.

The home is located in Barrie's west end, at the corner of Broadfoot Road, not far from Edgehill Drive.
