Smiths Falls Fire Chief Rick Chesebrough presented the 2023 annual report to council last month.
There was a big focus from the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office in 2023 on fire prevention.
Chesebrough says they did more than their fair share of education in Smiths Falls.
There were 296 calls for service in 2023 and 23 of those were for fires. The largest file being the heritage water treatment plant, which saw $2.5 million in damages.
Council recently made a decision on the fate of the plant.
