Volunteer fire departments across the region have received over $14,000 in new funding, thanks to a former national television talk-show host. 

The Peterborough fire department has shut down a rooming house on Bolivar Street. A fire safety inspection was conducted Wednesday at 494/496 Bolivar St. under the Ontario Fire Code, according to a release from the city.

The chiefs of three volunteer fire departments in the North Bay area are welcoming a decision by the province to revoke regulations passed by the previous Liberal government.
