Following a suspicious fire in November, Timmins firefighters were called to another blaze at the same abandoned home on Kimberly Avenue on Wednesday morning.
The call about a small fire across from the homeless shelter came into the station directly rather than from 911 at 6:10 a.m., deputy fire chief Scott Atkinson told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in a phone interview.
Atkinson said the abandoned home, located near the corner of Spruce Street South and Living Space, had been boarded up ever the first fire.
When firefighters arrived, no one was there and the home was fully engulfed in flames.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
Crews from the Timmins, Mr. Joy and Schumacher stations responded to the call and had it under control by 7:30 a.m., Atkinson said.
Nearby homes weren't affected by the flames, but the deputy fire chief said they could potentially be impacted by the water used in the firefighting efforts.
Firefighters were still on scene as of 9:30 a.m. doing an overhaul and looking for hot spots.
Atkinson said the cause is not yet known and the fire prevention team will look into it, but it may take some time.
Fires at abandoned buildings are becoming an issue, he said.
