Deputy Chief Ian Shetler Announces Retirement

On Monday November 4th, 2013 Deputy Chief Ian Shetler announced that on December 31st, 2013, he will be retiring from the Greater Napanee Fire Service.  His last official day in the office will be December 13th, 2013.

Deputy Chief Shetler began his career with the Town of Napanee as a Volunteer Firefighter in 1987.  He was hired full-time in 1989, and rose through the ranks from Firefighter to Training Officer and finally to Deputy Fire Chief.  He also assumed the duties of Acting Fire Chief after the passing of the late Chief Hanmore.

Deputy Chief Shetler has given time to the community for over 26 years not only as a firefighter, but as an influential member of his community.

His calm nature, and contagious laughter, and his excellent fire ground management has made him one of the most respected members of our department.  You don’t have to look very hard, or long, around the fire halls to see something that was a direct result of Deputy Chief Shetler’s dedication and passion to the fire service and this community says Chief Gervais.
