CAO Norm Levac announced on Friday McCullough will be retiring after having completed a 35-year career with the Cornwall Fire Department. McCullough was hired as a firefighter in 1980 and worked his way up through the ranks until becoming chief in 2013.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Cornwall Fire Department and I am fortunate to have worked with a great group of individuals over the years, both in the fire service and within other city departments," said McCullough in a press release.

"Chief McCullough has done an outstanding job and his leadership will be missed," said Levac in the same release. "We wish him all the best in his retirement."

The city will begin to look for a new fire chief shortly and McCullough has agreed to stay on if needed to help with the transition.
