Members of the Barrie Fire and Emergency Service is gearing up for Fire Prevention Week, running from Sunday to Saturday, and they’re inviting residents to join.
This year’s campaign focuses on lithium-ion battery safety, highlighting the importance of proper use, charging, and disposal of these batteries found in many everyday electronics.
“With lithium-ion batteries in everything from cell phones to e-bikes, it’s crucial we know how to handle them safely,” stated Fire Chief Kevin White.
To help residents “charge smart and stay alert,” the fire service is hosting free community events throughout the week.
