PPE at FireCon
For those participating in live fire and IDLH training tracks the FireCon board requires the following from each student. If the following is not met, you will be asked to leave the course and will not be provided a refund for your course fee.
PPE:
- Bunker gear, Flash Hood, Helmet, Gloves, and Protective Footwear for Structural Firefighting.
- Safety Glasses
- Knee Pads (optional)
Note: All turnout gear including Helmets, boots, hoods, and gloves must meet or exceed NFPA 1971 (approved labels must be intact), ensemble that is older than ten-year threshold will not be allowed.
Other important items to note:
- Students MUST be clean shaven on a daily basis as per CSA Z94.4-11 and MUST have been successfully FIT Tested to the SCBA they are using.
- Approved safety shoes or boots soft toed shoes and Sandals are not permitted to be worn in the apparatus bay, fire station working areas, or on the training ground.
- Students who have been issued fire department coveralls are encouraged to bring them for clean-up activities..
- Shorts are NOT permitted at any time during the training day.
