A former fire chief in Ottawa and Waterloo will now run the fire department in Meaford.
Council passed a motion on Monday to appoint John deHooge as the Municipality's new interim fire chief.
deHooge comes from Halton Hills where he was the Town's fire chief.
He has been a firefighter for more than 35 years.
deHooge replaces Scott Granahan who left to become fire chief in Mississippi Mills (near Ottawa).
deHooge began his 6-month term on Monday.
