The North Bay Fire and Emergency Services has rfeleased further details on the fire on Wednesday night on Dane Avenue.
Shortly after 8 P.M. on July 8, 2026, all three fire stations and 13 personnel responded to a reported structure fire at 517 Dane Ave. The initial crew was on scene in 5 minutes and were met with heavy smoke and fire conditions from the basement of a semidetached home. The occupant was alerted by the sounding smoke alarms and was able to quickly leave the residence, proceed to call 911 and alert the neighbors who all evacuated safely with their pets.
Quick action by crews were able to rapidly bring the fire under control and limited fire damage to the basement of the involved unit and some smoke damage to the rest of the house.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but not deemed suspicious. North Bay Fire and Emergency Services reminds everyone that extension cords are designed for temporary use and should never replace permanent wires due fire, electrocution and overheating risks.
