Oakville Fire Department has a new deputy fire chief.
Responsible for training and support services, Jeremy Inglis will join the department on July 22.
“Oakville Fire is excited to welcome Jeremy Inglis to our dedicated and diverse team of fire services professionals,” said Chief Paul Boissonneault.
“His vast experience in fire training operations, program development and strategic planning will be valuable to the town in implementing the Fire Master Plan and other priorities.”
Inglis brings more than 16 years of experience in the fire service. Most recently, he held the position of deputy fire chief with Central York Fire Services, where he oversaw fire prevention, fleet and station maintenance.
His leadership in the York Community Risk Assessment Process, the joint health and safety committee, and commitment to diversity and inclusion are key assets to Oakville.
During the last 16 years, Inglis has grown within the fire services across various municipal and regional governments, including at Hamilton, Niagara Falls and Fort Erie.
He was also instrumental in the advancement of training aligned with the National Fire Protection Association standards in all previous organizations and has served on the Executive for the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs for the past four years.
Inglis will be responsible for leading the training and development practice, dispatch communications and fleet maintenance, and upholding high standards.
He will also develop and deliver effective departmental policies and programs including training operations, information technology, financial matters, employee and labour relations, performance measurements and administrative systems.
