Fire Chief provides update on Smiths Falls arson investigation

Smiths Falls Fire Chief Rick Chesebrough had a brief update regarding an ongoing arson investigation.

They’ve played their role in the matter and after the June 9th fire at a residence on Smiths Falls Avenue was deemed suspicious, handed things over to the police and Ontario Fire Marshal’s office.

Chesebrough confirmed a plan’s in place to handle the fallout of the fire after-the-fact.

Police are asking for any video footage you have of the area around Smiths Falls Avenue that could help their investigation.

Video footage between the hours of 2am-6am for June 9th is requested from the following areas of interest:

  • Rideau Avenue
  • Alice Street
  • Chambers Street (between Winnifred/Jubilee)
  • Lorne Street Lila Street
  • Parkland Court First Street
  • Thomas Street Second Street
  • Robina Avenue Third Street
  • King Street Fourth Street
  • Empress Street Fifth Street
  • Sussex Street
