A Wednesday evening fire on Elgin Street in Arnprior involved extrication of a deceased individual trapped inside the dwelling.

The blaze was attended by Arnprior firefighters, paramedics and OPP.

The incident was reported about twenty past eight last night.

First responders found the structure fully engulfed in flames, and an extrication was completed around 9PM with the removal of the dead occupant, a 30 year-old male who had resided in the third floor unit.

Two other residents of the triplex made their own way to safety.

The Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal continues to investigate, with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner and the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services.
