The Town of Ajax appoints new Fire Chief

The Town of Ajax is pleased to announce Aaron Burridge as the Town’s new Fire Chief.

Ajax Council unanimously supported the CAO’s recommendation to appoint Chief Burridge at a special council meeting held on June 27, 2023, effective immediately. He had held the position in an interim role since December 2022.   

Chief Burridge began his career at the Town as a volunteer firefighter in May 2000 and was hired as a full-time firefighter less than a year later. He progressed and excelled through the ranks to a Qualified Captain, Training Officer, Chief Training Officer, Deputy Fire Chief, Interim Fire Chief and now achieving his current role as the permanent Fire Chief.

As the Fire Chief, Chief Burridge will be responsible for leading the overall administration and operation of Ajax Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) and the team.

Chief Burridge is a graduate from the Ontario Fire College in a variety of different fire service disciplines. He also holds certificates in Public Administration and Governance from Toronto Metropolitan University.

  • Chief Burridge was first appointed as Interim Fire Chief on December 1, 2022 following Chief Dave Lang’s retirement on November 30, 2022.
