PORT HOPE – Interested in becoming a firefighter?

If so, an upcoming volunteer firefighter recruitment information session on Feb. 27 could be your first step to achieving that goal.

“We are looking for a few more exceptional individuals to join our dedicated team,” says C. Ryan Edgar, fire chief and director of the Municipality of Port Hope’s Fire and Emergency Services. “Our volunteer firefighters are notably reliable, prepared to respond to a call at any given moment and responsible for executing assigned tasks related to an all-hazards response approach. They provide an exceptional level of customer service to the public through emergency response, fire safety education and community events, and we’re looking forward to recruiting more members of this calibre to the service.”

Interested residents are being strongly encouraged to attend the Feb. 27 recruitment information session, which is set to start at 6:30 p.m. The session is being hosted at the Port Hope Community Hub located at 5325 County Road 10.

At this session, fire and emergency services staff will be on-hand to explain the recruitment process, the mandatory training requirements and details about the position as a whole, including equipment, licensing requirements, incident and training response requirements, public engagement and education, compensation and insurance, reads a recent release from the municipality.

Interested residents looking for more information should contact the fire administration office at 905-753-2230 or visit porthopefire.ca.
