House destroyed after fire on Muskrat Lake

No injuries have been reported after a house fire on Muskrat Lake outside of Cobden. Acting Whitewater Fire Chief Jonathan McLaren says all five stations responded to a call for a structure fire at 84 Hendry Lane on Saturday afternoon around 3:15 pm. McLaren says there was one occupant home at the time of the fire and he adds the house was a total loss. The acting Fire Chief says they shuttled water from hydrants in Cobden to the scene and later used water from the lake to fight the fire. He adds the victim is being assisted by the Red Cross and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The last firefighters left the scene shortly before midnight, about 9.5 hours after the initial call.
