UXBRIDGE — Crews remained on scene in Uxbridge after flames claimed a family home on Old Stouffville Road on Tuesday.

Fire crews were dispatched to the home at 547 Old Stouffville Rd. just after 11 a.m. on Jan. 7 when a delivery person spotted flames at the home while dropping off a package.

“It’s a big house and it was pretty badly damaged,” said Uxbridge fire chief Phil Alexander, calling the home a “total loss” after the blaze.

“We’re still on the scene working on hot spots,” he said just before 5 p.m. from the scene. “We’re still investigating the cause, we don’t know where it started, but it’s not suspicious.”

All three occupants of the home were out at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The Fire Marshal’s office has been notified. Alexander said crews will begin investigating once the hot spots have been properly extinguished.
