Rob will be deeply missed by his beloved wife and best friend, Debbie Broadbent (nee Bates) and children Tara Broadbent, Corey Broadbent and his wife Erin Broadbent (nee Walters). Rob loved and cherished each of his grandchildren, Payton Broadbent, Jane Broadbent, Thomas Broadbent and George Broadbent and he will be sadly missed by them all. Rob is survived by his loving mother, Shirley Broadbent (late Ray April, 2016), sister, Kathi Jolliffe (Craig) and brother, Steve Broadbent (Linda) and niece, Stephanie Heffren (Greg) and nephew, Tim Broadbent (Hilary Warwick) and each of their children. He will also be sadly missed by Pat and Frank Bates, mother and father-in-law and Jim Bates (Lisa Smith) brother-in-law and children. Rob will also be missed by his running family which was a tremendously important part of his life. Rob was a man committed first and foremost to his family with whom he created many special memories, followed by friends, career and community. He began his career as a firefighter on August 1, 1985.  As he worked through the ranks at the St. Thomas Fire Department, he dreamed of and planned for the day that he might become the Fire Chief and he accomplished this goal on June 21, 2010. Rob’s commitment to the well-being and safety of others was second to none.  He was actively involved with numerous community projects and committees, and was always willing to step up to any challenge if it meant that it might make a difference in the lives of others.
