Leading Beyond and Outside the Rank

Leading Beyond and Outside the Rank

Course Description:

This 2-hour session brings together a group of dynamic women leaders whose personal journeys have taken place outside the traditional rank-and-file hierarchy to achieve success in improving and diversifying Ontario’s fire service. This moderated session will highlight the panel’s education, work-related and volunteer commitments that speak to the symposium theme of Building Leaders, Driving Change. All panelists have diverse backgrounds and unique work experiences that have benefitted the fire service but also have contributed to mentoring women to follow different career paths. The panel will showcase that leadership opportunities exist and can be developed in a variety of different ways beyond the traditional fire department rank that can contribute to the effectiveness of a successful fire service.
