Suspicious Fire in Hanover

An investigation is underway on a suspicious fire that took place November 1st at 2:30 am in the 600 block of 7th Avenue in Hanover.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a 5th wheel travel trailer fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters worked quickly to knock down the blaze and had fire under control in less than 11 minutes from the time the call came in.

As for the cause of the blaze, Fire Chief Jeff Dentinger says that is under investigation.

The trailer which was being used for storage purposes at the time was not connected to any power sources.

Dentinger says the Hanover Fire Department is working in unison with Hanover Police Services on the investigation.

Dentinger has been in contact with the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office and keeping the Office apprized of the investigation.

Dentinger says it is too soon to determine the cause of the fire and says at this point the Fire Department is investigating all potential possibilities.

This will take some time as the blaze completely destroyed the trailer, leaving very little of the trailer left.

Dentinger expects his investigation of the fire to take a few weeks to complete, once that has been concluded he will hand over his information to Hanover Police Services.

The call to the fire department was made by neighbors who spotted the blaze.

Dentinger commends firefighters for quick response time and a job well done.
