Emergency crews responded to an active fire in an apartment building at the corner of Bruce Avenue and Crawford Street in South Porcupine on Tuesday afternoon.
The building is located on the southeast corner of the intersection.
In an update shortly before 9 p.m., the City of Timmins said fire crews had cleared the scene.
Traffic was diverted
Bruce Avenue was closed east of Crawford, and the intersection is impacted.
“Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route while emergency crews work safely,” the city said in a social media post shortly before 5:30 p.m.
Multiple agencies responded
Social media reports indicated that local police and paramedics were also at the scene.
CTV News did reach out to the city for more information on the fire and emergency response.
In response to our inquiries, Amanda Dyer, the city’s corporate communications coordinator, had confirmed crews were still on scene as about 6:45 p.m.
“We will coordinate a press release tomorrow morning,” she added in her email.
