Fire services improving equipment

Six volunteer fire departments are the recipients of thousands of dollars in grants to help buy the emergency equipment they need.

Nolalu Emergency Services received the lion’s share of the grant with $25,000 given to help replace a first response vehicle.

Three other volunteer departments in Northwestern Ontario also benefited from the cash from Jenny’s Heroes Canada, through the Jenny Jones Foundation.

Pellatt United Firefighters Inc. in Keewatin received $9,000 for a portable pump, the Wabigoon Fire Department was given $3,000 for new emergency first aid equipment, and the Redditt Volunteer Fire Department is getting $2,500 for computer equipment for training.
