Ottawa firefighters put out a potentially hazardous barbecue fire before it could spread in Orléans on Father’s Day.
The Ottawa Fire Services say in a news release that multiple 911 callers reported heavy black smoke coming from a barbecue at a townhome in the 100 block of Teal Crescent at approximately 6:09 p.m. Sunday.
On arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke coming from the back of the home with flames visible on the deck and fence. The flames had not yet extended to the home, Ottawa fire said.
Additional resources were called to help put out the fire and safely deal with a hazardous propane tank at the scene.
The fire was put declared under control at 6:28 p.m. and contained to the area of origin before it could spread to the rest of the home.
There were no reported injuries.
