Job Description
Reporting to the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief is responsible for assisting with the management of the operations of the municipal fire service in order to serve and protect the public and to enforce provincial legislation within the Municipality.
In this role you will be focused on:
- Assisting with the management of Fire Service operations including administration, leadership and discipline in accordance with the FPPA
- Assist with the organization and planning of resources to ensure effective fire protection coverage Municipality
- Reviewing and maintaining the Emergency Response Plan for the Municipality
- Reporting to and assuming command at emergency incidents when necessary
What you will do:
- Act as the Fire Chief in the Chief’s absence
- Provide supervision for fleet management, fire prevention, inspection and enforcement, training and public education
- Prepare administrative and operational reports, records, statistics and correspondence
What you will bring:
- Degree or diploma in a related discipline (public administration, business administration), or equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible work experience.
- Must possess the following certification or equivalent education/experience:
- NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level 2; NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level 2; NFPA 1521 Incident Safety Officer; NFPA 1041 Training Officer Level 2
- Seven years’ progressive fire service management experience with a full-time fire department, with at least three years in a senior Fire Officer capacity
- Must possess experience conducting fire or emergency services training, fire code inspections and enforcement and public education
This position is a current vacancy. The salary range is $122,049 to $142,778.
