The North Bay Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a fatal structure fire in Port Loring that resulted in one death and another person being transported to hospital.
Police, the Argyle Fire Department and North Bay Ambulance responded to the residential fire on Lovers Lane, on Monday at approximately 7:15 a.m.
An 80-year-old Port Loring resident was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second individual was transported to hospital by ambulance. The deceased has been sent to Sudbury for a postmortem examination.
The North East Region OPP Forensic Identification Service and the Office of the Fire Marshal are assisting with the investigation. The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario — Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are also involved.
At this time, foul play is not suspected.
