The Cambridge Fire Department responded to what they are calling “a significant fire” affecting three units of an apartment complex on Mulberry Drive in Cambridge.

On Friday afternoon at approximately 3:15 p.m., the fire department received calls for a structure fire at an apartment complex.

“Firefighters worked swiftly to contain the blaze, preventing further spread to units,” said Eric Yates, chief fire prevention officer for CFD.

“Working smoke alarms and the building fire alarm system provided early detection alerting occupants, allowing for a safe evacuation from the building.”

While there were no injuries sustained in the fire, damage is estimated to be more than $500,000.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

“We thank our first responders for their quick action and the community for their patience,” said Yates.
