New fire chief, deputy fire chief announced for Gananoque

Gananoque has a new fire chief and a new deputy fire chief.

The Town of Gananoque has announced that in response to the resignation of Fire Chief Gord Howard, Deputy Chief Andrew Dickson has been promoted to fire chief, and Safety Officer Andrew Kent has been promoted to deputy fire chief.

Chief Dickson joined the fire department in July 2009 as a volunteer firefighter.

He became a full-time firefighter in September 2015 and was promoted to deputy chief in June 2021.

“His dedication, experience and knowledge will enable him to effectively lead the Gananoque Fire Department as he continues to provide excellent fire service to the Town,” reads a statement provided by the Town of Gananoque.

Deputy Chief Kent joined the fire department in April 2019 as a volunteer firefighter and was promoted to community safety officer in April 2022.

“His work ethic and passion for fire safety are a great asset to the department,” the Town’s statement continues. “His support of Chief Dickson will ensure the success of the firefighting team.”
