Man critically injured in Chalmers Rd. fire

Fire Chief John Thomas announced today that on Monday, Oct, 28, 2024 at 02:08 hours, the Elliot Lake Fire Department received a 911 call for a working fire at 40 Chalmers Rd.

Upon arrival on scene, fire department crew reported smoke visible from the home. Fire crews searched the dwelling and rescued one male victim, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The fire was brought under control by 04:28 hours.

The Ontario Fire Marshal was notified to assist in the investigation.

Fire Chief John Thomas would like to remind the public:

  • To always ensure the proper extinguishment and disposal of all smoking materials;
  • That every home in Ontario must have a working smoke alarm on every story and outside all sleeping areas.
