North Bay Fire Department Deputy Chief Greg Saunders believes the cause of the fire on Belleview Crescent Tuesday night has been determined to be careless disposal of an incense stick.
Just after 7pm last night firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 98 Belleview Crescent. The fire, in the attached garage of the home, had largely been extinguished by the resident before the arrival of firefighting personnel.
Firefighters extinguished what was left of the blaze and ventilated the home of the Carbon Monoxide that was created by the fire.
The residents had been alerted to the danger by properly maintained and properly located smoke alarms.
“Nobody was injured as a result of the fire. This fire could have been much worse without the early notification of the danger by the working smoke alarm.,” says Saunders.
