Whitby firefighters have doused an early morning building blaze on Warren Road.

The fire service says it was called to a “confirmed fire” in the area of Hopkins Street and Warren Road before 1 a.m. on May 7.

Shortly after 1 a.m., the fire department advised that firefighters had “contained the fire to the exterior of the building and have the fire under control.”

A few minutes later, just after 1 a.m., the service confirmed that the fire “has been extinguished” and that fire crews were “beginning to return to normal activities.”

Hours earlier, just before 10 p.m. on May 6, the Whitby fire department said that it had doused a grass fire near Consumers Drive and Industrial Drive.

“The grass fire has been extinguished and B1 platoon fire crews have cleared the scene,” wrote the service in an online post.
