Centre Hastings Council is set to introduce Derek Snider as new Fire Chief for Centre Hastings at an upcoming council meeting.

Snider takes over for current chief Bob Branscombe who will be retiring.

Snider has been a member of the Centre Hastings Fire Department for over 30 years.

The official appointment of Snider as Fire Chief will take place during council’s meeting on December 13.

At the same time, the newest fire truck has been added to the fleet.

The Freightliner is the latest pumper tanker that Centre Hastings says is designed to offer both rescue and pumper truck capabilities.

The pumper tanker is equipped with a Hale pump that has a pumping capacity of 6500 litres per minute, along with a water storage tank that can hold up to 4650 litres.
