OAFC Executive Director Announces Retirement

Despite our best hopes we knew at some point this day would come. This morning, Barry Malmsten, Executive Director of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs informed the Board of Directors that he will be retiring effective November 30, 2012.

Barry started working with us 9 years ago.  He has ensured we have a strong, effective advocacy program, strengthened our member support services and has grown our collection of events, recognized for their excellence across the country and throughout North America.

During his tenure he has helped us build a strong organization that is in solid financial shape and has established a well run office with a hard working, knowledgeable team.  Barry is leaving our organization in a very strong position.

On behalf of the Board and the fire service of Ontario, I would like to thank Barry for all of his contributions to the improvement of the OAFC and the fire service of Ontario. We will miss his endless enthusiasm and energy.

We hope that you will join us in wishing him well in his retirement.

Chief Kevin Foster,
President
Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs
